After backlash, Tamil Nadu government withdraws G.O. exempting Public (Law and Order) Department from RTI Act

According to the Government Order dated September 21, 2026, information on communal and caste clashes, inquiry reports on police firing, custodial deaths, details on handling of agitations by students and farmers; and matters relating to National Security Act detentions, were excluded from the ambit of RTI Act
